Bank robbery notes: The web site
November 4, 2009Jon Brooks Comments OffEver see Woody Allen’s movie Take the Money and Run, in which his attempt at a bank robbery is thwarted because no one can read the hold-up note?
In real life,of course, crime and the desperation–economic or otherwise–that may impel someone to commit one is no laughing matter. Still, some of the details can be sort of interesting.
To that end: Bank Notes: A Collection of Bank Robbery Notes, all from unarmed robberies.
Most of these are models of concision:
- “Give me all your cash.“
- “I have a gun, give me all of the money.”
- “Give me big bills, don’t get hurt.”
And some, for various reasons, give a bit more detail:
- “You listen good. I went through the Sept 11 attack and I’m very angry today. Don’t make a sound or everyone is going to die.”
- “Think! I have a bomb that can level this bank. All you have to do is act like this is a transaction and keep calm. Please do not push any alarms or act nervous. No blue packs. Keep enough money for one more transaction because that is the time I need to get away. You have three minutes. By the time I go you can tell someone. I have a police monitor and a remote for the bomb, so don’t screw up or we will all go. I don’t want to hurt anyone.”
And some are actually polite.
Not sure where to categorize this one. Maybe under “Personal finance.”
